Android app vs web app
What you can do in the GarageBilling Android app and in the web app, and where they differ.
GarageBilling works on an Android phone and in a web browser on your computer. Sign in with the same account on both and you see the same garage: the same customers, bills, payments and stock.
You can bill on the phone, right next to the vehicle, and use a computer at the counter if you have one. The core jobs work on both. A few things work on only one of them.
What works on both
- Bills with parts and labour, drafts, discounts and notes
- Estimates that turn into bills
- GST and non-GST bills, and the four bill designs
- Recording payments, part payments and the Pending Payments report
- Customers and their vehicles, with past bills
- Stock and reports
- Service and payment reminders
Where they differ
| Android app | Web app | |
|---|---|---|
| Bill without a customer (walk-in) | Yes, tap Skip | No, every bill needs a customer and a vehicle |
| Service reminder while making the bill | Yes | No, add reminders separately |
| Edit the WhatsApp reminder messages | Yes | No, the messages are fixed |
| Sharing a bill on WhatsApp | Share menu: pick WhatsApp and the customer | On a computer: the PDF downloads and WhatsApp opens; attach the file yourself |
| Import your item or customer list from Excel or CSV | No | Yes |
Which one should I use?
Use the Android app for everyday billing. It has the full bill flow, walk-in bills and reminders while billing, and sharing on WhatsApp is the most direct.
Use the web app when you are at a computer, or when you want to bring in a long list of parts or customers from an Excel or CSV file instead of typing them.
